Latest Bathroom Trends
We hope that you’ve followed and enjoyed our #TubTuesday campaign we’ve been posting on Facebook and Instagram this past month. To cap this month’s posts, we thought it would only be appropriate to highlight some of the latest bathroom trends to hit our area that both sharpen up your home and improve resale value. Whether you are looking for some work done now, or in the future, read on for some inspiration and dream about what your bathroom might look like!
If you are a regular reader here, this month’s post is going to be a little different than past posts. Today we will be looking at specific trends in styles of bathrooms we have designed and built for our clients, complete with photos and comments on the work. We hope you enjoy our work as much as we enjoyed the satisfaction of our clients’ faces when we revealed the completed work.
Bathroom Renovation Trend #1: Statement Tile
Whether you wish to make a bold statement or are simply looking for a more subtle accent, the locally available selection of creative and colourful tiles has never been better. The statement tile designs we install are as diverse as the personalities we work with.
Here are some of our favourite outcomes from recent projects we have completed:
This vintage look helps provide a small space with a big personality. The bold-but-trendy floor tile design effectively helps accentuate the classic look of the shower subway tile and marble countertop.
An accent wall in this shower warms up the bathroom with a tasteful splash.
Mixing too many different styles of bathroom tile can be dangerous, but carefully and tastefully done the diversity can add up to a modern, stylish, and unique design.
Bathroom Renovation Trend #2: Floor to Ceiling Glass Showers
Custom glass shower enclosures communicate a level of luxury in almost any setting. In most mid-high end bathroom renovations, the benefits and value of glass outweigh the costs, in both aesthetics and resale return. Glass showers can be designed to both reveal and enhance the shower design, and best of all do not take much upkeep or repair.
Recognize the shower tile? The pattern is quite popular, and we are quite certain we will be installing it many more times over the next couple of years. Here we see it add an artistic dimension to a modern and luxurious shower design. The floor to ceiling glass effectively integrates both bathroom spaces into a unified modern design scheme.
We wanted to show off this recent bathroom renovation because we loved the intentional use of varying wall height. The lower height at the end of the shower space provides a natural seating area lit by plenty of natural light. The mid-height wall provides a sense of enclosure while maintaining the overall sense of open space, and directly integrates the subway tile design with the exterior floor tile pattern.
And now for your moment of zen.
Bathroom Renovation Trend #3: Freestanding Tubs
There are few instances we can think of where a freestanding tub wouldn’t significantly enhance your bathroom renovation in comparison with a built-in. Not only do freestanding tubs open up a new dimension for luxurious creative design, practically speaking they were designed for people who love taking baths. In fact, we can only tenuously suggest that freestanding tubs are a trend, we think they are the standard for the modern 4 and 5 piece bathroom.
There is little in this design that doesn’t suggest comfort, style, and serenity
Given its own defined space, a freestanding bath offers an additional sense of escape, in addition to communicating luxury.
We’ll end our pictorial with a variation on a now-familiar floor tile pattern. The design here communicates a modern but warm country getaway.
